I love to read all sorts of genre of books. I really like books that have some historical aspects to them & war time novels are of great interest. This one started out pretty good. It really made you want to see how the main character but then it went into all of the background of Robbie (main character) clear back to his grandparents,parents etc. Frankly after reading the first few chapters of that I skipped through all of the genealogy chapters to get back to the main reason I was attracted to the book in the first place.Which was what happened to Robbie as a POW. It was a good read & I did enjoy the beginning & End of the book but the middle was a bit lengthy & irrelevant for me as a reader.For someone that likes a story that tells how someone got to where they are this would be a great read.For me it was an okay read.You can tell the Author went to great trouble to put the story together & that is why I gave it 4 stars.

This is a spell-binding historical fiction. The beginning and ending of this ebook were haunting episodes that captured my attention. The middle five chapters descriptively entailed the life of the main character, his friends and family, as well as the lives of most small town and rural Americans during the Great Depression.
I recommend this ebook to those readers who enjoy historical fiction.
